Cher, 80, Sparks Speculation She’s Engaged to Boyfriend Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, 39: ‘I Said Yes’
Are Cher and longtime boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards taking their relationship to the next level?
The “Believe” singer, 80 — who has been linked to the music executive, 39, for more than three years — had fans asking a lot of questions after she shared a cryptic post to X on Monday, June 1.
“I said yes to something I usually say no to,” the music icon wrote. “It was very sleek 💎.”
With her use of a diamond emoji, fans immediately began questioning if Edwards actually popped the question.
“Ma’am, just show us the ring. But wait… Is it just the engagement or did we elope?” one fan wrote, asking if the two just decided to head straight to the altar.
“Omg, don’t be winding us up babes,” another said, while some thought Cher may be hinting at a completely different announcement having to do with jewelry.
“The face of Cartier?” one user asked. “Simmering to do with diamonds? There’s always clues. And you usually say no to advertising. 🤔🤔🤔🤔.”
Cher and her boyfriend were first romantically linked in November 2022, when they were photographed holding hands. Since then, the couple has been inseparable despite making headlines for their 40-year age gap.
This isn’t the first time Cher has sparked engagement rumors. She previously posted a photo of a pear-shaped diamond ring to social media in December 2022 with the caption, “THERE R NO WORDS,” per Today.
Page Six also reported earlier this year that Cher wore a massive rock on her ring finger at son Chaz Bono‘s wedding. However, the publication said at the time that Cher was neither engaged nor married.
In an interview with Gayle King, per Entertainment Tonight, Cher said that the age difference between them doesn’t matter. “Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast,” the Grammy Award winner said.
When asked if age has ever been an issue, Cher replied, “No. He just says, you get older, but he said your spirit is younger. I just love him. I think he’s beautiful.”
Cher was previously married to Sonny Bono from 1969 to 1975, and to Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979.
