Demi Moore Mourns Heartbreaking Loss as Beloved Micro Chihuahua Pilaf Dies at 5

Demi Moore is heartbroken after losing her micro Chihuahua, Pilaf, who passed away at just 5 years old, the Daily Mail reported on Friday, May 30.

Moore, 63, had been inseparable from the tiny pup for years. Pilaf traveled the world with her as an emotional support animal, attended red-carpet events and sat front row at fashion shows.

In 2023, Moore brought Pilaf along to Royal Ascot and the two made TV appearances together on The Graham Norton Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Pilaf weighed just 1.5 lbs at birth and never grew much bigger. In an April 2025 interview with People, Moore described her as “a pocketful of love every day.”

“She’s the runt of her litter, she’s a magical creature,” Moore told host Jimmy Fallon during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2024. “She was meant to be with me, and I was meant to be with her.”

The tiny dog stood out wherever she went. After losing the teeth that once kept it in place, her tongue permanently peeked out, becoming one of her most recognizable features.

The Striptease star loved the quirk. “It’s part of her charm,” she told Fallon.

In August 2024, Pilaf landed the cover of Vogue‘s dog-themed “Dogue” issue.

She was quite a diva, Moore admitted. “She’s not a concrete girl, nor a pee-pee pad girl,” the Landman actress said during a 2025 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, per Parade Pets.

And in 2025, Moore told E! Live From the Red Carpet that she felt “naked” without the pup, as reported by People.

Pilaf’s last appearance on Moore’s Instagram came on March 14, at the premiere of I Love Boosters.

In September 2024, a source told In Touch that the Oscar nominee wants to be buried with every one of her dogs when their time comes.

The Substance actor, who has 3 daughters — Rumer, 37, Scout, 35, and Tallulah, 32 — with ex-husband Bruce Willis, has not publicly commented on the heartbreaking loss.
