Members of the Brown family are fearing the worst after Bear Brown posted a video about his brother Matt Brown‘s whereabouts.

“I have some really bad news about Matt that I wanted to share with you guys,” the Alaskan Bush People alum, 38, said in a TikTok video posted on Thursday, May 28.

Bear prefaced his message by saying that he couldn’t “100 percent confirm” what he was about to reveal “was true.”

“I’m being told that late last night Matt took his own life,” Bear continued. “Like I said, I can’t confirm that that’s true, but sources say that he was seen in a river, at a river or close to a river and that he took his own life and they saw him, like, floating down the river.”

The former reality star added that the police were called and authorities in Washington where Matt lived were searching for “the body,” but so far, their efforts have been unsuccessful. Bear noted that “so far all the sources are saying that it was Matt.”

“He’s been struggling for a long time with alcohol and drugs and stuff,” Bear said while becoming visibly emotional. “He has done a lot of stuff that, like, people don’t even know about. Everyone thinks that the family has, like, shunned him and won’t have anything to do with him, but that’s not actually the case. He didn’t want anything to do with the family.”

According to Bear, he had recently spoken with Matt, who told him he had “fallen off the wagon,” and he encouraged him to “get back on it.” The Discovery Channel personality also said that Matt had recently gone through a bad breakup, but he never thought “that Matt would take his own life.”

The news was especially heartbreaking because just three days earlier, Bear had posted about Matt’s situation and said that he “prayed” for his brother “every day.”
