Cher has developed a very sweet bond with the 5-year-old son of boyfriend Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, as shown in new red carpet pics of them together, and a source exclusively tells In Touch that she’s spoiling the little one rotten with total approval from his mom, Amber Rose.

“Cher isn’t trying to play stepmom to Slash. She’s very clear that she’s not interested in that role, she’s more interested in being like a fun fairy godmother,” the insider says. “His wish is basically her command. She’s having the best time with him.”

The source adds that the “Believe” singer, 78, “always wanted grandkids,” but since that hasn’t happened for her yet, she’s “jumping at this chance to have a cute little kid in her life.”

“The best part is they just do fun things together,” the source continues. “She lets A.E. and Amber handle all the discipline and the hard stuff. Not that there’s a whole lot of that needed because he’s a really sweet little guy.”

“Cher loves making him laugh and will play with him for hours. He’s totally giving her a chance to see the world through a kid’s eyes again and she’s loving it,” the insider concludes. “She’s really excited about Christmas this year because she can go all out with the presents and all the fun holiday traditions. She’s even got a Santa suit for A.E. to dress up in. She’s having a ball.”

Cher and A.E., 38, were first linked in 2022 when they were seen holding hands in L.A. The pop star confirmed their romance in January 2023 when she shared a photo of the rapper kissing her on the cheek on Twitter. The pair made their red carpet debut at the Versace fashion show in L.A. that March.

Though Us Weekly confirmed in May 2023 that Cher and her younger boyfriend had called it quits, a source told the outlet that September that they wanted to give their relationship a “second try.” The pair has been going strong ever since, and Slash, whom A.E. welcomed with Amber, 41, in 2019, has seemingly meshed well with his dad’s girlfriend.

In October, Cher, A.E. and Slash walked the red carpet together at Cirque du Soleil’s “Kooza” premiere in Santa Monica, California. The little boy was all smiles as he posed alongside his father and the “If I Could Turn Back Time” hitmaker.

Amber has also publicly expressed her approval of the relationship.

“I’m very happy that he’s with Cher because it creates stability for when [our] son goes over there,” she told Jason Lee on his self-titled podcast in March. “That it’s not all mayhem and stuff.”

And with all the enjoyment she’s gotten out of spending time with Slash, a source exclusively told In Touch in March that Cher — who shared sons Chaz Bono with Sonny Bono and Elijah Blue Allman with Gregg Allman — is considering adopting a baby with A.E.

“She’s telling A.E. it’s her dream in life to have another baby,” the insider said. “She missed the boat on freezing eggs and hiring a surrogate but adoption is something she very much would like to do.”
