Cher and her most recent beau Alexander “A.E.” Edwards are still going strong and enjoying the fact they can prove their doubters wrong, as a source exclusively tells In Touch she’d love to crown their happiness with a formal engagement and get hitched soon, but feels nervous about rocking the status quo. 

“Cher and A.E. have had some bumps along the way, but the past year they have been solid as a rock, to the point where she’s started dropping hints that she wants him to marry her,” the source reveals. Even though Cher is pretty clearly in the dominant position as far as the power dynamic of the relationship goes, she’s still expecting a ring delivered to her on one knee, or at least something equivalent in A.E.’s own style.

“She’s an old-school romantic,” the source continues, meaning that, for her, “the man has to propose, she’s not going to do the asking.” 

The Moonstruck actress, 78, met A.E. during Paris Fashion Week in 2022 and, besides for splitting up briefly in the Spring of 2023, they’ve been going strong ever since, despite fans expressing doubts over Amber Rose’s cheating ex. 

In fact, a different source told Us Weekly the “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer is wholly confident in her new man, telling the publication she “knows full well that there’s a lot of skepticism about this romance but she couldn’t care less … She’s reveling in the attention and saying that she and A.E. have something very special going on that’s made her feel more alive and sexier than ever.”

With so much passion behind the relationship, it’s no wonder why Cher is considering getting hitched again. She’s been married twice before — to musical collaborator and partner Sonny Bono from 1964 to 1975 and then to Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979 — but hasn’t seriously thought about walking down the aisle for the past 45 years. 

“It does seem like Alexander is open to the idea though,” the first source adds. “He’s very clear she’s his ‘woman’ and he has called her and his son, Slash, ‘a family.’ He’s very serious about this.” 

As In Touch previously reported, Cher has been doting on her boyfriend’s 5-year-old son, whom he shares with ex Amber, 41. “His wish is basically her command. She’s having the best time with him,” a second source previously dished about the little man’s relationship with his “fun fairy godmother.”

Though, the first source states that, even though the “Believe” singer has introduced A.E. to most of her family, “When they get engaged it’s probably going to freak out a lot of people in her life, not because Alexander has done anything wrong, but the reality is, there is some concern that he could be in this for the wrong reasons.” 

“A 40-year age gap draws judgement, but Cher won’t entertain it,” the insider continues. “She’s madly in love and gets upset if anyone questions him or their relationship. She’s ready to go all in.”
