Meghan Markle Is ‘Putting on a Brave Face’ Amid Disappointing ‘With Love’ Reviews: ‘She Had Such High Hopes’

It was supposed to be her crowning achievement. But on March 4, Meghan Markle‘s much-anticipated Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, premiered to blistering reviews. Variety called it a “Montecito ego trip not worth taking,” while The Guardian branded the lifestyle series “so pointless it might be the Sussexes’ last TV show.”

Viewers were not so kind, either. Some noted that many of Meghan’s recipes, like one to create a rainbow fruit platter, could be found on Pinterest. Others poked fun at her personal tips and tricks for entertaining. “I’m so glad Meghan Markle has a new show on Netflix where I can watch her take pretzels out of a labeled bag and put them into a new bag … then label it,” a user sniped on X. Another wrote, “I had grand plans to hate watch the whole series but I don’t think I hate myself enough to follow through.”

Though the former royal, 43, makes it clear on the show that she’s “not in the pursuit of perfection,” the negative reception still has to sting. “Meghan is keeping her head up and putting on a brave face, but it must be chaos in her world,” says a source. “She had such high hopes for the show, she expected it to be a success, and now there’s worry that not only will there be no season 2, but her and Prince Harry’s Netflix deal might be impacted as well.”
