Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt has taken another step toward officially removing “Pitt” from her last name as her legal name change moves closer to the finish line.
Court documents obtained by TMZ on Monday, July 13, show Zahara, 21, has completed another required step in California’s legal name change process by publishing a notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks.
According to the California Legislative Information site, the notice gives anyone who wishes to object an opportunity to do so before a judge considers the request at a hearing scheduled later this year on September 28.
As In Touch previously reported, Zahara first filed to drop her father’s last name earlier this year in April. She filed to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie on April 28.
However, she unofficially dropped the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star’s last name in 2024 when she was initiated into her sorority at Spelman College. Plus, when she graduated from Spelman in May, she was called to the stage to receive her degree as Zahara Marley Jolie.
Along with Zahara, Pitt, 62, and ex-wife Jolie, 51, share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 20, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Zahara isn’t the only child of Pitt’s to legally request to drop his last name.
Knox reportedly began using only the Jolie surname, including on his high school diploma. While Vivienne appeared without “Pitt” when she received credit as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders.
