The actor, 52, appeared on the Saturday, July 11, episode of the I Do, Part 2 podcast and answered a question from a caller who wanted to know his thoughts on looking through a partner’s text messages.
“I think if you’re brand new in a relationship and you’re not even to the point where you’ve made it official with other people, something’s wrong if you’re feeling the need to go through that person’s text messages,” Green said. “I think it’s important for you to take a step back from it and decide how much is truly the other person and how much of it is your own stuff. How much of that you are carrying in from past situations.”

However, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum — who was previously married to Megan Fox, with whom he shares three children — said for him “everything’s open” in what he defines as “a healthy relationship.”
“Sharna can go through my phone. She can go through my emails. She can go through absolutely everything that I have,” he insisted. “I don’t hide any of it, and I love the feeling of her being able to do that and know that she’s not gonna find anything that’s gonna upset her.”

“I make very clear in my life that I’m not gonna make any choices that would hurt her feelings or negatively affect her,” he continued. “I don’t make any choices that compromise the relationship in any way.”
Green added that he thinks “there’s a time and place for checking text messages.”
