Jill Duggar Celebrates Mother-in-Law Cathy’s Birthday After She Beat Stage 4 Cancer

Happy birthday, Cathy Dillard! Over the weekend, Derick Dillard‘s mom celebrated her special day, and Jill Duggar was there to help. While the family spent time with the kiddos, including the couple’s new nephew, Jax, they ate cake, hung out with their remaining Christmas decorations, and even got manicures and pedicures. But on top of all that, the parents-of-two also shared some heartfelt messages for their mom on their Instagram accounts.

“Happy Birthday Mima (‘mee-muh’)!! We love you!” Jill wrote, sharing a picture of herself and her mother-in-law at the nail salon. “Happy belated birthday to the best mom and grandma ‘Mima’ in the world,” Derick added. “I’m so grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful, godly mom, who has sacrificed so much for her family and others — a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman! We enjoyed celebrating with you this weekend! #happybirthday #andmanymore.”

Fans were eager to share their well-wishes, too — and they couldn’t help but remark on how good Cathy has been looking lately. “It’s so good to see her so healthy and happy!!! God is so good!! Happy birthday to your beautiful mama! God bless you all! ❤️” wrote one commenter. “I always like seeing pictures of your MIL after what she went through with cancer,” added another. There were so many sweet messages that the birthday girl herself even popped up to thank everyone.

“I don’t take birthdays — or anything else — for granted!” she noted. “It’s been a great day!” The grandmother-of-three also opened up about her past cancer treatment, discussing what she went through with fans. Cathy was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer back in 2014, but successfully battled Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma to become cancer-free. “[It’s been] 5 years this year!” she told fans in the comment section. “I am doing wonderfully, thanks! Still see the oncologist every 3 mos.” She even made a few jokes about it: “I sometimes say I am a chemo survivor…”

In addition to compliments, fans had other ideas for a birthday gift for Cathy, though. They think she might like a granddaughter someday soon. “Mima needs a granddaughter to go along with all the sons!” they joked, and she got in on the fun, too. “Not many girls in our family, even up the line! I 💙 my boys!” she responded. But hey, you never know. We’re overdue for another Duggar pregnancy — and we’d love to see some more girls join the fam.
