Joseph Duggar’s alleged victim “is not scared” as the case against the former reality star continues, according to a new report from Us Weekly.
“It took a lot for her to come forward, but she is not scared,” a source told the outlet on Tuesday, April 21. “She is strong. She doesn’t want to hide.”
Duggar, 31, was arrested late last month after a now 14-year-old girl came forward with allegations that he molested her during a family vacation to Florida in 2020.
The 19 Kids and Counting alum was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.
After pleading not guilty to the charges, Duggar was released on bond on March 31.
While the identity of the victim remains unknown, the source told Us Weekly that the child is close with the family of Duggar’s wife, Kendra.

“Christina [Caldwell, Kendra’s mother] has told other members of their church, but she is not sure she wants to talk about it so publicly,” the insider claimed. “That is what she is struggling with, but she is not hiding it.”
The young girl, who was just 9 years old at the time of the alleged sexual assault, reportedly “got the courage” to tell her family about the incident.
“Just like the police report says, when she told her family, they acted on it,” the source told Us Weekly.
