Jessica Simpson Posts About Being ‘Quiet’ After Ex-Husband Nick Lachey Talks About Awkward Run-In
Jessica Simpson was seemingly unfazed by ex-husband Nick Lachey‘s recent comments about their run-in earlier this year.
The Dukes of Hazzard star, 45, shared the dates for some of her upcoming shows in an Instagram post on Thursday, May 14 — one day after Lachey, 52, spoke about bumping into Simpson on a flight back in March.
“For the past few months, a part of me has been quiet. There’s a certain kind of feeling that only exists in those rooms with y’all,” Simpson captioned the post shared on Thursday, May 13. “I couldn’t be happier to be back on the road again startin’ in Tulsa @hardrocktulsa ! I’ve missed all of your faces! New tour dates are out now. See y’all soon.”
The night prior, the Love Is Blind host appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, and he was asked by the host how it was seeing Simpson for the first time in decades.
“You know it’s been 20 years since…and so we haven’t seen each other in those 20 years and then spent six and a half hours on a flight to Hawaii together,” Lachey told Andy Cohen.
The former 98 Degrees member clarified that he and Simpson were in the “same vicinity” of one another on the flight, adding that the encounter was “very very cordial, very respectful.”
Lachey was traveling with his current wife, Vanessa Lachey, and their three children – Camden, 13, and Phoenix, 9, and Brooklyn, 11. The “With You” singer was sitting with her mother, Tina Simpson, while her estranged husband, Eric Johnson, and their three kids – Maxwell, 13, and Birdie, 7, and Ace, 12 – were seated elsewhere on the plane.
Simpson and Lachey first met in 1998 and began dating shortly after. They went on to get engaged in February 2002 and the two tied the knot later that same year.
They quickly became one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples with help from their reality show on MTV, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica. Unfortunately, their love story wasn’t meant to be — and by November 2005, Simpson and Lachey officially went their separate ways.
