Samantha Busch finds comfort in the garden she built with late husband Kyle Busch, who recently died at age 41.
It’s been more than one month since the late NASCAR legend died on May 21 after a severe case of pneumonia progressed into sepsis, but Samantha is still navigating the way forward.
In a candid update shared Thursday, July 2, to Instagram, Samantha posted photos of herself and their two children — son Brexton, 11, and daughter Lennix, 4 — out in their garden, where they feel Kyle’s presence.
“The garden started as something I loved but somewhere along the way it became something we loved,” the mother of two wrote in the caption.
“This spring Kyle spent days installing a fully automated irrigation system because in true Kyle fashion he never did anything halfway,” she continued. “He hung the glass hearts we’d collected over the years from our trips to Mexico and decided he knew exactly how to prune the tomato plants for maximum growth after watching one reel.”
Recalling how she would make his “favorite pickles” from their cucumbers and enjoy “caprese from the garden” with a glass of wine during the summer, Samantha said she is finding new ways to be there without him.

“Those first days after he passed, I’d come out here alone,” she said. “I’d talk to him. I’d pray to God. I’d cry until I didn’t have any tears left.”
“Now the kids come with me,” she explained. “We pick vegetables, get our hands dirty, and tell stories about Daddy coming out to inspect everything like he’d been farming his whole life.”
“Every tomato we pick and every cucumber we pull reminds me of the life we were still building together,” she added. “I just wish he were here to enjoy it with us. Somehow, though, every time we’re out here, surrounded by the things we planted and built together, he still feels close.”
In recent days, Samantha has opened up about how she is managing to cope amid the tragedy, admitting in a candid Instagram post, “I miss Kyle every second of every day.”
Before Kyle’s death, the couple had just recently celebrated Brexton’s 11th birthday and Lennix’s 4th birthday.
On May 21, his family issued a statement on his X account explaining that he had been hospitalized. Hours later, his family confirmed that he had died.
