Just more than a month after the NASCAR legend died on May 21 at age 41 after a severe case of pneumonia progressed into sepsis, Samantha is opening up about how their daughter is grieving.
The mother of two — who shares son Brexton, 11, and daughter Lennix, 4, with her late husband — posted a photo to her Instagram Story on Monday, June 29, featuring Lennix having breakfast with photos of her dad.
“Morning breakfast with Daddy,” Samantha wrote over the image, which featured Lennix looking at her father as she ate her meal.
“She wakes up every day tells him how her sleep was, what she’s doing today and asks if he’s having fun in heaven,” she added.
Last week, Samantha opened up about how she is managing to cope amid the tragedy.

“Grief doesn’t stop parenting,” she wrote in the caption of a candid Instagram post shared June 24. “The morning still comes. There are questions to answer, tears to wipe away, races to get to, bedtime stories to read, and two kids trying to make sense of a loss that no child should ever have to face.”
While Samantha may appear strong, she said that the “truth is” she doesn’t “feel strong most days,” adding: “I miss Kyle every second of every day. I want to curl up in a ball and cry.”
Still, she said that Brexton and Lennix “need hugs, comfort, laughter, routines, and someone to help carry their hurting hearts while mine is shattered.”
Before Kyle’s death, the couple had just recently celebrated Brexton’s 11th birthday and Lennix’s 4th birthday.
On May 21, his family issued a statement on his X account explaining that he had been hospitalized. Hours later, his family confirmed that he had died.
