Edwin Arroyave Reveals Where He and Teddi Mellencamp Stand Amid Divorce, Her Cancer Diagnosis
Edwin Arroyave shared an update about where he stands with estranged wife Teddi Mellencamp amid their divorce and her cancer battle.
During the Thursday, April 3, episode of his “The Eds” podcast, Edwin, 47, recalled the moment he learned about Teddi’s cancer diagnosis. She revealed her diagnosis in February, which was just three months after she filed for divorce in November 2024.
Edwin said that he was initially determined to make Teddi, 43, feel “confident” about her prognosis, while he also wanted to make sure they were in a “good place” and their kids – Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5 – were OK.
“People think that’s hard, but for me, that’s just what I do,” he said about navigating his relationship with Teddi after their split. “Like it’s no matter what, I will always love Teddi and she’s been a big part of my life. And I like taking care of people, it’s just what I do. So it wasn’t even like, a question.”
He said that it was “reflexive” for him to want to help amid her diagnosis, and he wanted to get “her to a point where she felt confident” and wasn’t “alone.”
“I think a big part of dealing with this situation is feeling confident, feeling like you’re not alone,” Edwin continued. “And I think her friends all stepped up, her family all stepped up. And it helped me a lot.”
Despite no longer being a couple, Edwin said that Teddi’s health battle has helped them stay connected. However, he did explain that they’re taking their new relationship day by day.
“The first thing is just making sure that we take care of this first and all that other stuff,” he said. “We’ll see what happens with time. But for right now, it’s just more of like, how do we take care of you? And how can we get you back to normal as fast as [possible]? That other stuff will figure itself out.”
Teddi announced her plan to divorce Edwin in November 2024. “After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum wrote via Instagram. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”
Soon after she confirmed their split, In Touch confirmed that Teddi was having an affair with horse trainer Simon Schroeder while she was still married to Edwin.

Months passed before Teddi announced her cancer diagnosis in February, which she recently revealed reached stage 4 after her melanoma diagnosis and had metastasized to her brain and lungs.
In light of her cancer battle, Teddi has been sharing frequent updates on social media about her health.
“I woke up to so many kind messages,” she said in an Instagram Stories video posted on Wednesday, April 2. “I just want to say thank you guys so much. So many messages about how strong I am. And I gotta tell you, some days I feel really really strong and some days I feel really really sad and alone. And I think that’s a normal part of what any of us are going through, and that’s okay. Stage 4 cancer can be scary.”
