Teddi Mellencamp put a pause in the hearts of Bravo nation when she announced in February 2025 that doctors found tumors in her brain, just days after talking about her cancer scare with melanoma.

Teddi Mellencamp Announces Doctors Found Tumors in Her Brain

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum announced via Instagram that was preparing to undergo surgery after doctors found multiple tumors in her brain.

“For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches. Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months,” Teddi wrote in an Instagram statement on February 12, 2025. “Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today – The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”

Despite the heartbreaking news, Teddi said she felt “blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health.”

Teddi shares kids Slate Arroyave, Cruz Arroyave and Dove Arroyave with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave.

The reality star was surrounded by love from fellow Bravo stars in the comments section of her post, including Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder and The Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson.

“Oh Teddi, thinking of you. You’re so so so strong,” Stassi commented, while Emily wrote, “Praying for your health my friend.”

Bravo patriarch Andy Cohen and The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Dolores Catania also offered their words of support and encouragement.

Teddi Mellencamp Undergoes Brain Surgery Alongside Friends and Family

Hours before sharing her initial statement on Instagram, the accountability coach shared videos via Instagram Stories as she prepared to head into surgery.

“Counting down the minutes until my babies get here,” Teddi wrote via Instagram Stories alongside a selfie as she lay in a hospital bed with monitors on her forehead. “As my dad [John Mellencamp] said this am, god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be OK.”

Hours later, Teddi shared a video as she had her hair shaved off of her head by a friend. Despite processing a scary new reality, Teddi was in high spirits and even joked that she was going to rock the buzzcut better than her brother Hud Mellencamp.

In a final video before heading into surgery, Teddi told her followers that she was heading into her procedure in 10 minutes. She was surrounded by best friends Kyle Richards, Morgan Wade, Jennifer Turner Leipart and Marisela Arechiga as well as Edwin.

Teddi Mellencamp’s Ex Edwin Arroyave Shares Update After Surgery

Edwin shared an update about Teddi after she underwent brain cancer surgery in an Instagram Stories post on February 13, 2025. “So many people asking for updates. All I will say right now is surgery went well,” he wrote in a text post. “That said, I’ve never seen @teddimellencamp in so much pain. She’s finally getting some needed rest. I know she is so grateful for the outpouring of love.”

Teddi Mellencamp Spent 16 Days in the Hospital

The Bravolebrity revealed she’d been discharged from the hospital on March 4, 2025, after spending more than two weeks undergoing treatment for her brain tumors.

“16 days and I get to go home!!! Thank you to all my loves and life savers for getting me through this,” Teddi wrote in an Instagram Story showing her in her car.

Once she got home, Teddi became emotional when she got back to working out for the first time since her hospital stay, doing a light walk on a treadmill.

“I’m starting back slow. Obviously very emotional watching the body change with so much medication from the brain tumors but just trying to remember how grateful I am that I can move my body again,” she explained while tearing up in a March 4, 2025, Instagram Story video.

Teddi continued, “Yeah, but grateful because I’m here. I’m moving my body. One day at a time and I’ll get back to where I want to be.”

In a follow-up Story, Teddi showed off how her body still had “bruising and swelling” on her hands and arms from her treatment while in the hospital. Still, it wasn’t stopping her from pushing through the treadmill workout. “I know I can do this,” Teddi wrote on the video. “F–k off tears. I can do hard things.”

Doctors Found New Tumors in Teddi Mellencamp’s Brain and Lungs

Two days after returning home from her 16-day hospital stay, Teddi went back to get scans revealing how she was doing following her brain surgery. Sadly, the new scans revealed five additional tumors.

“I have 3 more tumors in my brain and 2 tumors on my lungs. These are all a direct result of my melanoma,” Teddi wrote in a March 6, 2025, Instagram Story. She noted that the new brain tumors weren’t able to be removed via surgery.

Teddi continued, “The doctors are hopeful that these additional mutations will be removed via immunotherapy. That begins Tuesday at 11 a.m.,” adding, “I am feeling positive and excited — that I will beat these tumors.”

Teddi Mellencamp Returns to Podcast in 1st Episode Since Brain Surgery

In March 2025, Teddi returned to the podcast she cohosts with former fellow Housewife Tamra Judge. While talking, Tamra recalled a text Teddi had sent her that said she “thought she was dying.”

“On my darkest, saddest days, I think I’m dying,” Teddie said during an episode of her and Tamra’s “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “I can’t see. I can’t walk. I can’t even get out of bed. I remember feeling like, ‘This is actually it.’”

Teddi also revealed one of the people in her life she’s had to lean on the most, and that’s her dad, John.

She continued, “My dad helped me, and that he’s still helping me has really been a game changer. Right now, I’m starting to see the light and I’m starting to think about the future.”

Teddi Mellencamp Confirms She Has Stage 4 Cancer

On April 2, 2025, Teddi announced that she had stage 4 cancer. “I woke up to so many kind messages,” she said in an Instagram Stories video at the time. “I just want to say thank you guys so much. So many messages about how strong I am. And I gotta tell you, some days I feel really really strong and some days I feel really really sad and alone. And I think that’s a normal part of what any of us are going through, and that’s okay. Stage 4 cancer can be scary.”

Meanwhile, she told Us Weekly that the cancer had metastasized to her lungs and brain, where four additional tumors were found.

“There are some days [where] I think you’re allowed to say, ‘I don’t feel confident right now, I feel very uncomfortable and I want to wear a wig,’” she told the outlet about how the perspective has changed her life. “And there are some days that I’m like, “It is what it is.” Some days, I’m really sad and really scared, and some days, I’m like, “I got this; I’m not worried.”

One day later, Teddi shared some good news on her Instagram Stories, telling her fans that she had “five more rounds of immunotherapy to go” as she rang the bell to mark her last day of radiation.

“Love you all for the kind messages,” she wrote.

In a video, Teddi held her “graduation papers” as she stood beside the symbolic bell. “Ring this bell three times well,” she read. “It’s told to clearly say, ‘My treatment’s done, the course is done, and I am on my way.’”

Teddi Mellencamp Revealed a Positive Update in Late April 2025

On April 23, 2025, Teddi had positive news to share when she revealed that all of her tumors had either “shrunk or disappeared.” She shared the announcement via Instagram.

“Honestly, the crying is already done, but I just finished with all of my scans and my tumors have significantly shrunk, which doctors believe means that this all will work and that I will be back to myself and feeling good,” Teddi said in the video clip.

She captioned the video, “One update I couldn’t wait to share! All tumors stage 4 (metastasized melanoma in my brain and lungs) shrunk or disappeared so I have 6ish more weeks of immunotherapy and doctors believe I will be healed if everything stays on course. Thank you to everyone who has sent their love, prayers, and positivity.”

Teddi Mellencamp’s Melanoma Diagnosis

Less than two weeks before doctors found Teddi’s brain tumors, she reminded fans to schedule their skin checks in celebration of World Cancer Day.

“If this is your first time seeing this, I recently shared my full melanoma journey on @tscpodcast. Give it a listen when you have a chance. If it’s not your first time, I hope it’s a good reminder. Who’s making their appointment today?” Teddi captioned the February 4, 2025, post.

Five months prior, Teddi had her 16th melanoma patch removed on her back, which was stage 2 cancer.
