RHOBH’s Teddi Mellencamp Had an Affair With Her Married Horse Trainer Before Edwin Arroyave Split

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp had an affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schröeder, In Touch can confirm.

“Teddi is Simon’s biggest client,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “Teddi and his wife, Karli Postel Schröeder, were good friends for seven [to] eight years. Karli confronted Teddi about the affair when she found inappropriate text messages on Simon’s phone [and] Teddi promised it would not happen again.”

The insider says that the relationship began when Teddi, 43, and Simon were in Devon, Florida, for a horse event in May. After Teddi promised Karli the affair was over, Teddi and Simon continued to see each other and their physical relationship became “emotional,” according to the source. Once Karli “re-discovered the affair was still happening,” she “decided to separate her business” from Simon, and took on the clients who left him. The former Bravo star and her daughter still train their horses with Simon, the source adds.

Simon and Karli share two kids.

Teddi’s infidelity bombshell dropped days after she announced her divorce from estranged husband Edwin Arroyave. In Touch’s source reveals that their marriage ended because of Teddi and Simon’s affair.

“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter,” Teddi wrote in a statement via Instagram on November 2. “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

One day prior to the reality star’s announcement, she filed for divorce from Eddie, 47, after 13 years of marriage. Teddi cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and listed their official date of separation as October 20, according to legal documents obtained by In Touch.

Teddi requested sole legal and physical custody of their children, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10 and Dove, 4, while granting “frequent” visitation rights for Eddie.

On November 8, Eddie responded to his estranged wife’s requests by filing his own dissolution of marriage paperwork, In Touch confirmed at the time. Although the home security executive also cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, he listed November 1 as their official separation date.

In Eddie’s filing, he requested sole physical and legal custody of their kids and asked the court to adhere to the terms of their existing prenup.

“Pursuant to the parties’ Premarital Agreement, all assets, income from all sources, and obligations of each party are his/her separate property, except as specifically set forth therein,” the document read.

Teddi’s former RHOBH costar and BFF Kyle Richards reacted to the pair’s divorce on Monday, November 11, admitting that she was “sad” for their family.

“Obviously I wasn’t surprised because I speak to her every day,” the Halloween actor told E! News at the time. “I’m sad. I see two people that I know once really loved each other very much — and I’m sure still do — and have this beautiful family and you see them go through something like this. I feel like we’re just getting way too comfortable seeing this now in our group.”

Teddi, Edwin and Simon did not immediately respond to In Touch’s request for comment.
