Family over everything. Angelina Jolie’s kids “love” FaceTiming with their grandpa Jon Voight, a source tells In Touch exclusively, but, if the 44-year-old’s father, 81, wants some screen time, he has to follow one rule: “No talking politics!”

“Angie and Jon are on polar opposite sides of the political spectrum, and he can be pretty outspoken about his conservative views,” the source explains. “They’re on good terms right now, though, and Angie just wants to keep it that way.”

While the seasoned actor is present in Angelina’s life now, the father-daughter duo reportedly stopped speaking in 2002. Once the Maleficent star became a mother to six — Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — they rekindled their relationship and Jon has since grown close to her children.  “At the end of the day, family is family,” the insider adds, “and the kids love their grandpa.”

Although Angie’s kids have a great bond with their grandpa, their relationship with father Brad Pitt is still strained — especially with Maddox. Thankfully, the 56-year-old is “slowly” working things out with his eldest son after they “spent quality one-on-one time together,” another source exclusively told In Touch in February.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star is clearly making a strong effort as he ditched the 2020 BAFTAs in London on February 2 to be with the college freshman. “Brad fully intended to go to the BAFTAs,” the source said. “But at the last minute, he learned that his son Maddox was back in L.A. from college. So Brad prioritized things and stayed in town to see him. And he’s glad he did.”

Just before Brad and Angie split after 11 years together, the Fight Club actor and the teen got into an alleged altercation on a plane in 2016. Ever since the incident, the father and son have struggled to reconnect.

Maddox spoke out about his relationship with his dad in a video interview exclusively obtained by In Touch in September 2019. When asked by the cameraman if he thought his father would visit him at his university in South Korea, he replied, “Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening.” As for repairing their relationship, Maddox said, “Whatever happens, happens.”
