Selena Gomez Reacts to Bella Hadid’s Shade on Instagram: ‘That Sucks’

Maybe she’ll have better luck next time. Selena Gomez reacted to Bella Hadid‘s choice to delete an Instagram photo under which the 27-year-old left a sweet comment complimenting the model. Many fans interpreted Bella’s recent social media activity as shade towards the pop star, and on Sunday, November 17, Selena took to the comment section of a fan account to weigh in on what went down.

“She’s all about supporting women. You all just can’t take it nicely. BTW Ms. Hadid deleted the post,” read the caption of a screenshot of the “Lose You to Love Me” singer’s comment under Bella’s now-deleted Instagram post, reposted by a fan account. Selena then commented, “That sucks,” and added a crying face emoji.

All of the drama started when Bella, 23, shared a photo of herself looking into a mirror with the caption, “A Dior Thing.” Selena showed the brunette beauty some love in the comments. “Stunning,” she wrote, adding a heart eyes emoji. But shortly after Selena commented, Bella decided to delete the whole post altogether.

It’s unclear why Bella decided to remove the image from her Instagram grid, but fans speculate that it could be because she isn’t ready to be friendly with Selena after their love triangle with R&B singer The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye).

Bella and Abel, 29, dated for two years before they split for the first time in November 2016. Just two months later, in January 2017, Abel moved on with Selena. It seemed like a betrayal since fans thought Selena and Bella were friends because of their involvement in mutual friend Taylor Swift‘s girl squad. But at the time, insiders revealed the ladies weren’t actually that close to begin with.

“Selena is not good friends with either Gigi [Hadid] or Bella,” a source told Us Weekly in January 2017. “She knows them through other people, but they are just acquaintances. She is friendly with them, but not friends with them.”

But despite their level of closeness, they both still unfollowed each other in 2017 shortly after Selena and Abel got together. They dated for 10 months and split in October 2017. Five months later, Abel and Bella got back together in April 2018. But the on-again, off-again couple called it quits again in August 2019 after almost a year and a half of dating.

Earlier this month, Selena seemed to extend a digital olive brand to Bella by following her again on Instagram. But Bella never followed Selena back, and it seems like she’s not quite ready yet to open the lines of communication.
