It’s Over! Bella Hadid and The Weeknd Split After More Than a Year Together

It’s over for Bella Hadid and The Weeknd. The couple called it quits over a year after they reunited in spring 2018, In Touch can confirm. According to a source close to the couple, it was the long distance that did them in. Not only did they rarely get to see each other, but all that time spent apart also lead to doubts about their relationship — and about each other’s fidelity. “[They] split due to trust issues and living so far apart,” the insider told In Touch.

E! was the first to report the news, citing claims that “they are in different places right now, physically and mentally. … Bella is prepping for her fashion week commitments and Abel is working on his music and his upcoming acting debut.” Their competing schedules — and commitments on opposite coasts — allegedly led to their fair share of fighting. “They have been arguing a lot recently,” an insider told E! “[They] haven’t spent quality time together in months.”

Word of the split comes a week after The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, deactivated his Instagram account. Though he still has his Twitter account, the star uses it relatively infrequently and hasn’t checked in since July. As for Bella, she’s kept busy sharing photos of herself with friends in addition to her modeling work. She even revealed that she’s already moved on to her next “love story” after meeting a cat while out and about.

Previously, the stars had split when the musician went on to date fellow singer Selena Gomez. After they reconciled before Coachella 2018 and were spotted kissing in Cannes, it seemed like they were back to being the real deal. Unfortunately, just two months after the “Starboy” songwriter surprised his girlfriend abroad, they’ve broken up once again. But it seems like Bella isn’t sweating her split.

On August 5, she seemed to hint that she’s doing just fine, captioning a selfie, “My vibration is only love and light. ✨” But that might be because a reunion isn’t out of the question. According to the source, the model and her ex “hope to get back together at one point, but for now are focusing on themselves and their projects.” And we’ve certainly seen these two break up and get back together before.
