Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Released From Prison After 8-Month Tax Evasion Sentence

Back to normal life! Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was released from prison on Thursday, September 12, after he served an 8-month prison sentence for tax evasion at Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in New York. The Jersey Shore star was able to step out of the facility around 8:10 a.m., a source told Radar Online.

Before the 37-year-old could reunite with his family and friends, he had to complete release paperwork, go through an identification process and change his clothes, according to outlet. A spokesperson from the Federal Bureau of Prison told the outlet that the procedure “doesn’t take long.”

“We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time,” a rep for Mike’s wife, Lauren Sorrentino, told In Touch. “It brought us so much peace and comfort. We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations! We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback, and we can’t wait to show the world ours.”

On Friday, September 6, the blonde beauty revealed that she is preparing to welcome her husband home with open arms! Lauren took to her Instagram to share with her followers that she is creating a “welcome home” playlist for the handsome hunk.

Despite the ups and downs, it seems like the New York native made the best out of his, uh, situation. On the Thursday, September 5, episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Mike told his costars what was happening while he was behind bars. “Tell Jenni [Farley] and everybody I miss everybody so much,” he told Lauren on the phone. “I can’t wait to see everybody. I just wanted to call and say hello. I also wanted to wish Ariana [Sky] a happy birthday,” Mike said referring to Ronnie Oritz-Magro’s daughter.

Mike added, “I’m doing great! I think I will be home a little sooner than later. I’ll be in very, very, very good shape, and “The Situation” will no longer be under construction!”

In April, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi divulged what Mike’s day to day looked like. “Mike is having the time of his life,” the 31-year-old mama told E! News at the time. “It’s like he’s in a senior home, he’s playing bingo, he’s helping people recover in jail.” The brunette beauty also confessed that the whole Jersey Shore crew speaks to him as much as they can. “We all talk to him through an email, so I talk to him like once a week,” she said.

Obviously, Pauly “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio and Vinny Guadagnino are counting down the minutes until Mike is back in their lives since they are going to throw Mike a huge party. “That goes without saying,” Vinny, 31, exclusively told In Touch in April. “Yeah. We’re definitely going to do it up big when he gets out.”

“I want to do like a week-long celebration,” Pauly, 39, revealed. “Yeah, Mike’s re-release back into the world.”
