After more than six years of dating, Matt Lauer still hasn’t made things official with girlfriend Shamin Abas, and a source tells In Touch the PR executive is ready to walk if she doesn’t get a ring ASAP.
“He keeps finding excuses to wriggle out of a proposal,” dishes the source. “She’s at a real crossroads.”
As In Touch previously reported, Abas and 68-year-old Lauer had been friends for over a decade before things turned romantic in late 2019 — two years after he was axed from Today over sexual misconduct claims.
One of the journalist’s accusers, former NBC assistant Brooke Nevils, went on to release a tell-all, Unspeakable Things, this February, sharing gruesome details about how “monstrous” Lauer allegedly raped her at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, per Page Six.
“Shamin’s sacrificed so much to support Matt, putting her entire reputation on the line and losing a lot of friends who didn’t understand what on earth she saw in him,” says the source. “She’s stuck around because she sees the good in him, but also because he promised her a future together.”

In photos obtained by In Touch, the couple were spotted strolling around Sag Harbor, New York, on Monday, March 23.
“Shamin is finally admitting to people that maybe it wasn’t such a good choice to trust Matt and wait for her fairy tale ending,” adds the source. “It may never happen.”
