La La Anthony’s dream date night would likely involve a nice dinner, some drinks and something fun, like bowling. “That’s all right in my wheelhouse,” says the 40-year-old. The most important thing on the agenda? Some good old-fashioned fun. “I love spontaneity, and I love to laugh,” the BMF actress says. “I joke around all day long, so if you can be spontaneous and make me laugh, those are two great qualities.” Here, the bestselling author, TV personality and mom to Kiyan, 17 (dad is ex Carmelo Anthony), talks to In Touch’s Lindsay Hoffman about her love life, double dates with her famous pal Kim Kardashian and what she wishes she could tell her younger self.

How’s your dating life?

LA: Interesting. [I’m staying] open to whatever is meant to be and believing that whatever God wants will come. I’m living life and having fun and trying to make amazing memories.

Tell us about your ideal date.

LA: A good meal somewhere with drinks is always fun. Maybe a nice walk after, or sitting at the park. Or watching something fun on TV, like a fun movie or TV series.

Are you open to double dating with Kim?

LA: Yes! Double dates are fun.

Would you set each other up?

LA: I don’t know. It’s not easy finding options out there. So, it would be interesting for us to figure out who to bring with us. Whoever it is, it’ll be fun — Kim and I always have a good time together.

Does being in the public eye make it harder?

LA: I think anybody would say that. If you talk to women across the world, they’ll say it’s hard to find options. And you don’t just want any options — you want the right ones.

Any tips for finding Mr. Right?

LA: Don’t settle. And whatever is important to you, don’t sway from that. There’s somebody in this big world who’s going to match everything you’re looking for.

You teamed up with Amgen to raise awareness about treatment options for your plaque psoriasis, which Kim also has. Do you share advice?

LA: We swap ideas about what works and what doesn’t work. Like, “Hey, I tried this. It worked. You should try it.” Kim would always speak so openly about it. I was like, “It’s the right thing to do. You can help.” By her speaking about it, I became more confident in speaking about it, too. She definitely helped [me with] that.

What else are you working on?

LA: I’m currently shooting season 7 of The Chi on Showtime.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

LA: My son will be off to college. I’m having difficulties wrapping my mind around that fact. Then I’ll have the house to myself. Hopefully, the next five or 10 years will be a lot of fun for me.

What’s your advice to your younger self?

LA: Don’t get caught up in what people say. No matter what you do, not everyone’s going to like it. People are going to have something to say. So, it’s about making yourself happy. If you feel good with your choices, that’s all that matters.
