“I never should have said it,” he admitted. “I got dragged for that.”
However, “It was $200,000,” Appleton — who has worked with Kim Kardashian since 2016, and has been frequently seen on her reality shows and on social media creating her looks — continued. “I said 100 because I was afraid of what everyone would say. I said it, and then I was scared.”
“Look, there’s so much that goes into it. There’s plenty of times I do work for free. There’s plenty of times that I don’t make that amount of money,” he explained.
Appleton also noted that his work doesn’t come in consistently, so he needs to make the price tag of a single haircut or style last for quite a while. He also clarified that he doesn’t exactly pocket the full $200,000 when he finds the work.

“It was a lot of traveling and it was a whole commitment,” he added. “So when you break it down, it’s not as much. Also 50 percent tax in America—that’s half. And then your agent takes 20 percent, and then your business manager takes five.”
Appleton previously revealed his hefty price tag during a January appearance on the U Up? podcast, when he was asked what he would charge as a celebrity hairstylist today.
“I’ve charged everything from $100 back in the day to…,” he shared before laughing and pausing. When pushed to continue by the podcast hosts, he responded: “Oh God, like $100K. Yeah, but that was to travel and stuff, that was a whole situation. That sort of thing is a one-off.”
Despite creating looks for Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa, Appleton has to keep things professional with his famous clients — but that doesn’t mean they don’t often become friends.
“At the end of the day, I’m there to do a job, so I always remember that,” he told Hot Goss’Eyal Booker and Lonnie Marts in February. “I think it crosses over organically. I think the people I work with I’ve worked with for a long time, so there’s definitely a friendship there.”
