Khloe Kardashian ‘Happy the Way Things Are’ With Tristan Thompson: ‘Unconventional’ Relationship

Khloé Kardashian had a scare over the holidays when daughter True got sick, but a source exclusively tells In Touch the episode came with a silver lining: bringing her and baby daddy Tristan Thompson closer together. 

The Good American founder, 40, revealed to fans the day after Christmas, on December 26, 2024, she ended up skipping her family’s holiday celebration after her daughter, 6, came down with a “really scary” fever.

“I didn’t get to make it to the Christmas Eve party, which was a bummer,” the Kardashian posted to her Instagram Stories. “But it wasn’t really a party this year—it was just us hanging out at Kendall’s house, but still I missed being with my family,” she wrote, adding, “but now he’s perfect and great. He was great for Christmas Eve and all that.”

While it’s always nerve-wracking for a parent to take care of a sick kid, one bright spot for Khloé was that, “Tristan was able to come home for Christmas and help Khloé out with the kids, which she really appreciated,” the source says. “She’s been raving to everyone about what a big support he was, apparently he stayed up all night to sit with True so that Khloé was able to get some rest.” 

“The kids were thrilled to have him there for Christmas morning, and so was Khloé, she didn’t even mind missing out on the family Christmas eve party because she had Tristan with her to keep her company,” the source adds. 

A second source previously dished to In Touch that, even though heartbroken Khloé refuses to move on and start dating again after her breakup from the 33-year-old NBAer, she’s now just glad whenever he makes time to coparent their two children, even during the season. While Khloé, who lives in Los Angeles, “has the kids full time because Tristan is living in Cleveland,” Tristan “rushes back to L.A. anytime he’s got time off, even if it’s just for 24 hours, so he is around more than a lot of people may realize,” that source said, adding, the youngest Kardashian sister “is very grateful for her kids’ sake to have Tristan around so much, they adore their dad, it makes them so happy to have him home and that makes Khloé happy.” 

The first source confirms the sentiment that Khloé and Tristan have fallen into a smooth coparenting groove, saying, “Their relationship is very unconventional, but there’s no denying that Khloé does seem very happy, to the point where some of her friends are now saying it would be nice for them to actually be together, instead of in this weird limbo.” 

Despite the two having an on-again-off-again relationship in the past, “Khloé shuts down any talk about them getting back together,” the source says, adding that she “says she’s happy the way things are and doesn’t need the drama that will come with taking him back.” 

“She just wants him to be the best dad for their kids, that’s all she cares about right now and he’s living up to that so she’s happy.”
