Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have been playing a happy family over the holidays, as evidenced by social media posts, and a source exclusively tells In Touch they’re entering the new year on better coparenting terms than ever while vowing to stick together as a family no matter what.

“They really don’t care if people find it weird that they’re so close,” the insider says of the couple, “They think that they’re just living proof that exes really can stay friends and coparent with total love and respect.”

The reality star, 40, and her NBA player ex, 33, share two children from their on-again-off-again relationship, which lasted from 2016 to 2021 – True, 6, and Tatum, 2. They broke up a few times over the years, notably for the latest time which came just weeks before announcing they were expecting their second child, after it was revealed Tristan fathered a child with Maralee Nichols.

The source says, “Khloé has the kids full time because Tristan is living in Cleveland,” but that doesn’t mean he’s dropping the ball in any way, as “he rushes back to L.A. anytime he’s got time off, even if it’s just for 24 hours, so he is around more than a lot of people may realize.” 

“Khloé is very grateful for her kids’ sake to have Tristan around so much, they adore their dad, it makes them so happy to have him home and that makes Khloé happy.” 

The Good American founder recently posted a cute snap featuring her two kids joking around with a cardboard cut out of their dad’s head. Tristan has been in the picture a lot recently and speculation is spreading as to whether there’s something more going on, or if maybe Khloé is just falling back into the old trap of wanting her beau back. 

“People do make snide comments about Tristan being around too much, or they’ll accuse her of still being in love with him, but she pretty well ignores it,” the source adds. 

A different source who previously spoke to In Touch argued that, even if Khloé is attempting to let the comments roll off her shoulder and coparent platonically with Tristan, it’s clear to most of the people around her she’s still pining to eventually get back together with him, like she has in the past.

“As much hell as he’s put her through, and as much as she denies that she still has romantic feelings for him, the fact is she just can’t seem to get over him,” that source said. “She still sees him as the love of her life, but it’s such a touchy subject because he doesn’t want to mess things up again so he’s keeping her in the friend zone.” 

The first insider agrees that to Khloé, “what matters to her is how her kids feel, not what other people think,” and that she’s “very happy about” the fact that Tristan is around and “they’ll be spending the holidays together and doing all the family things.”
