Mary Jo Buttafuoco Reacts After Amy Fisher’s Son Was Arrested: ‘This Kid Never Had a Chance’

Mary Jo Buttafuoco, who was shot in the face by “Long Island Lolita” Amy Fisher in 1992, reacted to the recent arrest of Fisher’s son.

Brett Anthony Bellera and his girlfriend, Jennifer Armenti, made headlines this week after they were arrested for allegedly killing his cat in December 2024 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Broward County court records state that Fisher’s son, 25, and Armenti, 36, are each charged with aggravated animal cruelty in connection to the cat’s death, according to People.

Fox 13 reported that a forensic veterinarian identified microwave radiation as a potential cause of death. Probable-cause affidavits also cited immersion in extremely hot water or exposure to hot-water vapor as possible causes, according to Fox.

“I have known about this kid and his issues for years now,” Mary Jo (who now goes by the last name Connery) said a statement to NewsNation on Tuesday, July 21. “It’s about time someone has put it out there.”

“This kid never had a chance,” she added. “I suggest you reach out to his mother at Streamate … a [live adult cam] site. Are we surprised??”

Bellera has pleaded not guilty, according to court records seen by People. It’s unclear if Armenti entered a plea.

A judge reportedly ordered that Bellera not possess any animals while on pretrial release.

Fisher was an underage teenager and having an affair with Mary Jo’s then-husband, Joey Buttafuoco, when she shot her in the face.

According to the New York Daily News, Fisher was 17 when she was arrested for attempted murder. She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless assault and served seven years, per the outlet.
