Kevin Hunter Fired From ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Amid Divorce Proceedings
He’s done. Kevin Hunter — Wendy Williams’ husband — has been fired from The Wendy Williams Show, a spokesperson for the talk show told Us Weekly on Thursday, April 18. He’s worked on the series for many years, according to his IMDB page and now he’s out.
The spokesperson told Us Weekly, “Kevin Hunter is no longer an executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show. Debmar-Mercury wishes him well in his future endeavors.”
“It’s like a weight lifted off everyone’s shoulders,” an insider told the outlet exclusively. “Kevin’s toxicity was dragging everyone down … While the future is somewhat unclear, what is clear is that Wendy has a huge support system comprised of her staff, industry colleagues and family.”
Kevin’s ousting from the program likely has to do with Wendy’s decision to file for divorce from her husband of nearly 22 years. An insider confirmed the filing to In Touch on April 11, although Wendy, 54, filed the papers one day earlier, on April 10. Fans speculated about the couple having marriage issues for quite a while, especially considering the rumors that Kevin, 46, was allegedly cheating on the talk show host with his supposed mistress Sharina Hudson.
A source told In Touch on April 11 that Kevin actually doesn’t want to call it quits with Wendy, and claimed, “The divorce won’t be messy. Wendy is willing to split everything. She knows she’ll be able to make money forever. He didn’t want to get divorced, she had to force his hand.”
As recently as early March, Wendy seemed to address the split rumors about the duo and seemingly denied they were having any issues. “I want to shout out to my husband. I’m still wearing my ring,” she said on The Wendy Williams Show. “Believe me you, when you’ve been with somebody for 28 years … married for 25 years … we know each other. He’s my best friend, he’s my lover, he’s all this and he’s all that. I know what you’ve been seeing and I know what the streets have been talking about.”
However, it seems like all of that has now changed. The couple is headed for divorce, and Kevin’s headed out the door at Wendy’s talk show. Perhaps Wendy’s stay at a sober living treatment facility gave her some clarity on the situation?
