Wendy Williams Announces She’s Moving Out of Sober House: ‘It’ll Be Wendy on Her Own’

You go, girl! On Monday, April 15, Wendy Williams announced on The Wendy Williams Show that she is leaving her treatment facility. “I am moving out of sober house in just a few days, you know. It will be Wendy on her own. I know, I know,” the 54-year-old revealed to her viewers as they gave her a huge round of applause. “I have to tell you, you know I have been dealing issues with addiction, alcoholism, and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son. Believe me, when you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day and no telephone and you think ‘This is my life’ at the sober house. It’s one of the best things, honestly, that could have ever happened to me.”

She continued, “When you figure your life, you think about how you’ve been delivering to the world, especially here on this show. It’s no secret we are friends, and sometimes you don’t like me. But anyway, thank you for watching every day. You know you wear a different mask when you are out here. Everybody has — including you, whether you are a secretary or a school teacher or whatever. Everybody has things in their life that they are embarrassed to share with the world, or they are frightened to share with the world, or they are not ready to share with the world. Addressing my sobriety, my addiction, head-on has helped me sort out every single compartment of my life.”

The New Jersey native concluded her heartfelt speech by explaining that she is not giving up the fight. “I have a commitment to me and my son to come out of here better, stronger and faster than ever,” she said. “And, by the way, I will still commit. You will forget about my business any moment now, and I commit that the motto of this show will always be, ‘Their business is our business.’ That’s right!”

On March 19, the blonde beauty got candid with her fans and revealed that she was getting help for her drug problems. “Sometime now and even today and beyond, I have been living in a sober house,” she admitted at the time. “When you see me come to work, glammed up, right after the show, I go across the street, I do my Pilates. I told you two hours a day. I like to take care of my body and you know, I have had a struggle with cocaine in my past. I never went to a place to get the treatment, I don’t know how. God was sitting on my shoulder, and I just stopped. So, this is my autobiographical story and I am living it, and I am telling you it.”

Meanwhile, the book author recently filed for divorce on April 10 from her husband, Kevin Hunter, after 21 years of marriage. The personal representative for Wendy Williams released a statement to In Touch after the news broke. “Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time,” they said. “Kevin is supportive of Wendy, and they are working through this process together. No additional comment will be provided at this time.”
