Wendy Williams Says She’s ‘Been Living in a Sober House’ During Emotional Reveal

She’s coming clean. Beloved daytime TV host Wendy Williams has lived her life like an open book, so it’s no surprise that she got extremely candid with her fans about her addiction struggles. On the March 19 episode of her talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, she revealed that she is currently living in a sober home as she continues to battle addiction.

“I’ve got more to the story for you — the truth,” the 54-year-old told her audience. “You know, Kevin and I have the Hunter Foundation for the good of the people. And we recently launched our 888-5HUNTER number for those of you caught up in the struggle of addiction.”

She then explained that since she struggled with a cocaine addiction in the past and hadn’t gotten the help she needed. So now, she has been living in a sober house, and she detailed her daily routine which includes going to several meetings in the tri-state area and working with a sober coach. After Wendy goes to her meetings, her sober coach drives her back to her sober living home.

“After I finished my appointments, I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to the home that I live in here in the tri-state with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family,” Wendy explained. “They hog the TV and watch soccer, we talk and read and talk and read and then I get bored with them. Doors are locked by 10:00 p.m. Lights out by 10:00 p.m. So I go to my room, and I stare at the ceiling and I fall asleep to wake up and come back here to see you. So that is my truth.”

Wendy then closed out the show by urging fans to reach out to the Hunter Foundation, a non-profit that provides grants for drug education, prevention and rehabilitation programs, for help if they or someone they know is struggling with addiction.
