Katie Holmes’ New Man Emilio’s Former Fiancee Was ‘Blindsided’

Love appears to be on the menu for Katie Holmes and her new restaurateur beau, Emilio Vitolo, but it “came at a price,” an insider exclusively tells In Touch. The chef’s former fiancée, Rachel Emmons, was “blindsided” by their romance.

“Rachel was absolutely in the dark that Emilio was seeing Katie,” the source says about her reaction to his relationship with the Dawson’s Creek actress, 41. “She knew nothing about it and received a break-up text from him on a Tuesday, a couple hours before the first photos were taken and spread like wildfire across the internet.“

Daily Mail was the first to break the news Emilio, 33, called it quits with his ex via text. “Rachel, who was still living with Emilio, was devastated about the broken engagement,” the insider adds. Apparently, the two parted ways recently. 

“It turns out that Emilio and Katie were seeing each other for a while,” the source claims. “It will take a while, but Rachel is telling friends that she’ll be fine.”

Rachel last posted a photo with Emilio on July 27. In the portrait, he had his arm wrapped around the designer while they enjoyed the beautiful sunset together. Rachel also referred to her now-former flame as her “angel” in the caption of her post shared on Instagram the day before. In May, they seemed to still be going strong because she shared a snap of her pals dining at his father‘s Nolita restaurant, Emilio’s Ballato, where Emilio works.

Since then, the chemistry between Emilio and the Coda star seemed to be off the charts during their recent date nights. 

The Royal Pains performer and Katie were getting on fabulously in photos captured while dining together in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on September 1. A week later, Katie and her new flame were spotted locking lips at Emilio’s Ballato. She was all smiles as he embraced her outside in full view.

“It‘s not serious [between them] yet,” another source previously told In Touch, revealing they have been on a few outings together and are just having “fun.”
