Jill Duggar Reunites With Cousin Amy for Thrift Store Shopping Amid Distance From Family

Jill Dillard (née Duggar) and cousin Amy King (née Duggar) appear to be closer than ever these days. The duo met up for a shopping date at Potter’s House Thrift in Springdale, Arkansas, on Monday, August 31, and Jill’s 3-year-old son, Samuel, came along for the afternoon outing. 

Jill, 29, documented their hangout on Instagram Stories, showing them stopping by the children’s section to see if there were any stylish clothes for her son Israel. The girls then checked out the books and found “several great ones,” before making a pit stop at the home decor area as well as the aisle which had all of the toys. Jill and Amy both had their baskets full of items by the time they were ready to check out. Both of them said they had so much “fun” shopping together.

Their shopping trip comes weeks after Amy, 33, shared a cryptic quote seemingly hinting she is thriving without her extended family. “She said … ‘I have no need for revenge. I am no longer yours and that is punishment enough,'” read the screenshot she tweeted on August 17. “The best revenge is to live a happy, drama-free life without them,” Amy added in the caption.

Back in 2016, the mom of one explained why she kept her distance from her Counting On cousins while responding to a fan on Instagram. “We’ve had a girls night before and have gone out to eat. It’s a rule though that if I want to spend quality time with them I have to come see them,” Amy wrote. “They don’t want me to influence [the girls]. So I respect their standards and I don’t fuss about it.”

Because Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, is also distancing himself from the famous family as of late, it appears to have given the girls something else in common. 

In July, Amy seemingly praised Jill for coming into her own. “You smile just a bit brighter these days!” she captioned a selfie. “So proud of you, hippie chick!”

Even though Derick is still at odds with Jill’s dad, Jim Bob, the TLC alum isn’t trying to take sides because she wants to “stay out of it,” a source previously told In Touch.

“It’s no secret that Jim Bob doesn’t approve of his son-in-law, but he does love his daughter Jill, and he will stand by her choices,” the insider claimed. “Jill and her parents are on good terms. She chats with them all the time.”
