Jennifer Lopez Skips 2025 Met Gala After Finalizing Ben Affleck Divorce: Why She Didn’t Attend

Jennifer Lopez skipped the 2025 Met Gala months after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck.

The “On the Floor” singer, 55, opted out of the star-studded event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 5.

It was reported that J. Lo is busy working on her new movie, Office Romance, according to the Daily Mail. Filming has been taking place in the New Jersey area.

She previously attended the 2024 Met Gala in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown that featured 2.5 million silver beads while serving as a cochair, and sparked rumors that she and Ben, 52, were having issues when he didn’t accompany her to the event.

In Touch broke the news that they were headed for a divorce in May 2024, while Jennifer confirmed their separation in August 2024 when she filed for divorce after two years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in January.

Ben and Jennifer didn’t work out as a romantic couple, though it appears that the exes are still on good terms.

“She and Ben communicate all the time and continue to support each other’s endeavors,” an insider exclusively told In Touch in an article published on April 2.

Meanwhile, a second source told In Touch that Ben and Jennifer were working hard to remain cordial for the sake of their kids. While the former couple don’t share any children together, her twins, Max and Emme, 17, grew close with his children, Violet, 19, Seraphina “Fin,” 16, and Samuel, 13, during their brief marriage.

“Ben is never going to be as close with J. Lo as he is with Jennifer Garner, they don’t share three kids,” the insider said about Ben’s first wife, whom he shares his children with. “But they are both very sensitive to the fact that [J. Lo’s] twins Max and Emme are very close to Ben’s kids.”

The source continued, “If they can’t stand to be in the same room as each other it’s going to make that very tough, so they’ve agreed to do what it takes to get on better terms. Before they got back together they were genuinely friends and they’d love to get back to that.”

“They’re not at a place where they’re going to be taking off on joint holidays with the kids, but they have talked about having a nice dinner all together to start with, and then they’ll go from there,” the insider added.

Both Jennifer and Ben seem to be embracing their lives as newly single people, and it’s been rumored that she’s flirting with her Office Romance costar Brett Goldstein while they’re filming the movie.

“They’re both professional and ready to deliver their lines when the cameras are rolling, but in between, it’s a flirt fest,” a third insider exclusively told In Touch about the costars. “Brett fawns all over Jennifer, and she’s absolutely loving the attention. He is so adoring, which is exactly what she needs right now.”

Meanwhile, another source told In Touch that Ben was also “dating again” following their divorce.

“She must be independent, strong in her convictions and understand that Ben’s sobriety has to come first,” the insider said about Ben’s dream woman. “Someone sober would be ideal, but it’s not a priority.”
