FBI Expert Says Blood Pattern Suggests Missing Nancy Guthrie Was ‘Wrapped Up in Something’

As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, enters its second month, retired FBI special agent Maureen O’Connell shared her thoughts on what the blood spatter pattern outside the home could mean.

“I doubt that she walked out because there were no voids,” O’Connell said during an appearance on Brian Entin Investigates on Sunday, March 8. “So, let’s say the pattern of the blood is concentrated here, but the sphere is this big, it’s round, you would have a void here from one foot or from another foot or from something. There don’t appear to be any voids.”

The fact that there was no break in the blood spatter pattern suggests that Nancy, 84, didn’t walk out of her house on her own, according to O’Connell.

“So for me, it was in my mind she’s wrapped up in something and they’re carrying her out,” O’Connell continued.

She added that the blood droplets’ shape could also be another clue.

“So for me, it was in my mind, she’s wrapped up in something and they’re carrying her out,” O’Connell explained. “The shape of the blood droplets – they’re all round and the sphere is intact. That means it went straight down. It wasn’t moving at speed.”

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on January 31 after her daughter Annie Guthrie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni dropped her off. The family reported her missing the following day after a friend said that Nancy didn’t show up for a streaming church service.

Since then, there have been few leads in the case despite Nancy’s family offering up to $1 million as a reward.
