Derick Dillard Pissed off the Bates Family and Ben Seewald So Much, They Unfollowed Him

Apparently, Derick Dillard has been pissing a lot of people off lately. The former Counting On star — who was fired from the hit TLC show back in November — is losing followers. According to a recent reddit thread, the Bates family as well as his brother-in-law, Ben Seewald, have clicked the unfollow button on social media.

An eagle-eyed fan wrote, “The shunning begins… the Bates family have unfollowed Jill and Derick. Individual accounts unfollowing just Derick, meanwhile Ben unfollowed him, who’s next?” To which someone replied, “I predict that someone at Cross Church is going to have a ‘counseling session’ with Derick and then his account will abruptly disappear. For as much as they probably agree with what he’s saying, at some point, they don’t want to be responsible for negative attention that this will invariably draw.” Another agreed, “What he is doing is incredibly tacky. Twitter is not the place for personal, family or business grievances.”

The reality TV exile went off on an epic Twitter rant earlier this week, first whining that TLC didn’t pay for his son’s stint in the NICU. “We even requested that they help with some of the medical expenses from the birth that they made a pretty penny on, but they refused to cover any of those costs. It was close to a year before we made the last medical payment.”

Unfortunately for Derick and his wife, Jill Duggar, few were sympathetic. “Welcome to the real world, that is how it is done. Most of us plan our families around the ability to cover medical costs, food, shelter, clothing, etc.” Another agreed, “Wait. They asked TLC/the production company to pay them money over and above what was spelled out in their contract? That’s… not how it works.” A third chimed in, “Man, he is really salty about being fired.”

The 28-year-old then claimed the network didn’t pay him at all. “We could pay for it fine; I had a great job,” he wrote in regards to Samuel’s medical bills. “The point is, I thought that at least since they were making money off the birth special episode, they could help soften the burden a little. And no, as far as we could tell, we were volunteers and hadn’t been paid anything for the show.”

Oh, and let’s not forget he asked Jazz Jennings to have coffee with him — after attacking the LGBTQ community last year. The invite came after Jazz shared a video of Emma Gonzalez, one of the survivors of the fatal Feb. 14 shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The teen trans advocate, a native of South Florida, wrote: “This is so powerful. I’m so proud of my community. @Emma4Change #MSDStrong,” to which Derick responded, “Thinking about and praying for all those across the country, and especially in your community, who this horrific tragedy has affected. Let me know if you’re ever in Northwest Arkansas and I’d love to grab coffee and visit. #MSDStrong #NeverAgain.”

Ugh. Can someone please spare us all and take his Twitter away. Cough, cough, Jill?
