Jill Duggar's Husband Derick Dillard Seemingly Has New Job
Jill Dillard’s (née Duggar) husband, Derick Dillard, appears to be taking a big step in his law career.
The 19 Kids and Counting alum, 36, made a change to the “Experience” section of his LinkedIn account, revealing that he left his role as the assistant district attorney for Oklahoma’s 27th district in January, In Touch confirmed on Wednesday, April 16. One month later, Derick began a new position as an attorney at law for what is seemingly his own law firm, Dillard Law, although little is known about his new place of work.
Additionally, back in January, Derick reposted a notice from Jack Thorp, the district attorney for Oklahoma’s 27th district, that contained a job listing to fill the former reality star’s assistant DA role.
“We are actively #hiring! Know anyone who might be interested?” the post read, with the job listing attached.
Starcasm was the first to report the news.
Derick served as the assistant DA for two years and nine months, according to his LinkedIn, having begun in the role in May 2022. Prior to that position, he worked as a rule XV attorney at Doss Law Firm in 2021.
Derick studied law at the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from 2018 to 2021.

“Although law school wasn’t easy, Derick enjoyed it overall and had many great experiences!” Jill, 33, wrote on her blog after her husband’s graduation. “While in school, he enjoyed working in several different areas of public service law at both the state and federal levels, including prosecution, defense and judicial work!”
She continued, “He was grateful to receive a scholarship through the ‘Public Service Fellowship’ which allowed him to gain great experience as a ‘Public Service Fellow.’ He was also honored to be part of a small group of students selected for the Arkansas Public Service Academy, and he even received a ‘ProBono & Community Engagement’ award at graduation that recognized his many extra hours volunteering in public service outside of work and class!”
Derick passed his bar exam in April 2022 and is currently licensed to practice law in both Arkansas and Oklahoma.
The Counting On alum and his wife, who share kids Israel, 10, Samuel, 7, and Frederick, 2, have made headlines in recent years for their estrangement from the rest of the Duggar family following the release of the 2023 Amazon Prime documentary, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets and Jill’s memoir, Counting the Cost. Though the couple reunited with the clan for Christmas 2024, Jill admitted earlier in the year that things between her and her 18 siblings were not how they “used to be.”
“It’s still one of those situations where you kind of have to, like, know like, ‘What am I up for emotionally?’” she explained on “The Unplanned Podcast” in January 2024. “Cause a lot of times Derick and I will debrief afterwards. Like, ‘OK, like how did this go?’ And I would be lying if I would say it’s completely like it used to be or there aren’t any triggers or it doesn’t bring up any trauma at all. Like, there are those moments.”
