In footage obtained by Page Six, Chase — best known for voicing Lilo in Lilo and Stitch — appeared gaunt and barely conscious while lying on the floor of what appeared to be a tent in Los Angeles’ Skid Row. The video was allegedly taken in late 2025.
Chase’s staff and loved ones had been concerned about her for months leading up to her death, the outlet reported. Her longtime manager, John Ryan, told Page Six he and Chase’s stepsister, Gaia Brown, had been searching for her last year and hired a private investigator to help locate her.

The video showed the former child star visibly emaciated. After speaking with Chase by phone, Ryan was able to locate her and helped her into treatment after seeing the video, he explained. However, she later “disappeared” again. Ryan planned to help Chase get back on her feet before bringing her to a rehab facility in Costa Rica owned by a friend.
“We were so close to finding her,” he told the outlet. “Daveigh was the sweetest and brightest light in Hollywood. I can’t believe this is real. Her legacy and work will live on forever.”
In Touch previously reported that Chase’s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told TMZ on Wednesday, June 17, that the actress had died on Tuesday, June 16, after developing meningitis and a bloodstream infection. The infection reportedly progressed to sepsis, leading to multiple organ failure.
Chase had reportedly been hospitalized earlier this month for malnutrition.

In the days leading up to Chase’s death, Hernandez attempted to seek help for the former child star by setting up multiple GoFundMe campaigns that described her declining health.
“One of her biggest wishes was to take me to the redwood forest, a place I’ve never been. She wanted to show me the beauty of nature and share that experience with me,” Hernandez wrote in the first campaign. “I finally made plans for us to go, but now, because she’s so sick, we can’t.”
Ryan, however, told Page Six that Chase’s loved ones had never heard of the man claiming to be her boyfriend and noted that she had a “trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs.”
Chase rose to fame at a young age. In addition to voicing Lilo, she was known for playing Samara Morgan, the terrifying girl who crawls out of the television in the 2002 horror hit The Ring. She also appeared in Donnie Darko and the HBO series Big Love.
