‘The Ring’ Star Daveigh Chase Dead at 35 After Battle With Meningitis
Daveigh Chase, who terrified audiences as the little girl who crawled out of the television in The Ring, has died.
According to a report from TMZ on Wednesday, June 17, Chase’s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, confirmed that the child actress died on Tuesday, June 16, after developing meningitis and a bloodstream infection. The infection turned to sepsis and caused multiple organ failure. She was 35.
The outlet also reported that Chase had been admitted to the hospital earlier this month because of malnutrition.
Before she haunted fans as Samara in the 2002 horror film, she voiced Lilo in the Disney animated film, Lilo and Stitch, along with the animated series that followed. Chase was also known for voicing Chihiro Ogino in the English dub of the Japanese film, Spirited Away, and Samantha Darko in the cult classic, Donnie Darko.
However, her longest running role was that of Rhonda Volmer in the HBO series Big Love opposite the late Bill Paxton, Chloe Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
