Amid her divorce fromJelly Roll,Bunnie Xo is pulling back the curtain on the couple’s lean early years, revealing she was “turning tricks” and “seeing clients” to pay the bills before the country star made it big.
On Thursday, June 18, the best-selling author, 46, shed insight into what led to their split during a new episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast titled “The Divorce.”
Throughout the emotional discussion, Bunnie (real name: Alyssa DeFord) made it clear that she still loves her ex, despite where their relationship stands today.
On the podcast, Bunnie pushed back on the long-running narrative that she bankrolled Jelly’s rise with her own savings.

“Everybody always likes to say that I had all the money when we first got together and I did this for him and I did that for him,” she said. “And I mean, I had sugar daddies at the time that were paying for all of this.”
“I’m not trying to take the light off of what I did for him, but we were still in the streets, you know, and we were making money as it came,” Bunnie continued.
She shut down the idea that she was sitting on a fortune.

“It wasn’t like I was over here just sitting on a million dollars and was taking care of him. Like, I was turning tricks to pay our bills and to get lawyers and to travel and to, you know, go on tour and stuff like that,” she said.
Bunnie went on to explain that she kept working even while traveling with Jelly.
“I literally went on tour with him and was seeing clients just to fund our life at the time,” she said on her podcast.
Bunnie has never been shy about her past in sex work.
Beyond stripping, she worked as a high-end escort, seeing clients until 2020, and produced adult content on a popular subscription platform until 2023, as reported by People.
During the podcast, Bunnie got emotional, recalling just how small Jelly’s shows used to be.

“I remember there were shows that my husband would play to 20 people, and it was crazy because within the first three years of us being together the crowd started doubling. The shows started getting bigger,” she said.
“It was such an era, man. And you just had to have been there. It was the coolest time of my life. And I know it was the coolest time of my husband’s life, too,” she added, wiping away tears.
Despite where things stand now, Bunnie made clear she has no regrets about the relationship.
“I really truly feel, had I not got with my husband, I would be dead,” she said through tears, crediting the singer, 41, as “the catalyst” for the woman she has become.
As In Touch previously reported, Jelly Roll has spoken out about the split as well. “I wasn’t going to talk about this tonight, but while we’re talking about liars, the internet is a liar too,” he told the crowd in a video he shared on Instagram.

The “Save Me” singer said he would only say his piece once and wanted fans to hear the truth from him directly, then knocked down one rumor in particular.
“Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today,” he explained. “Nobody cheated on nobody.”
