Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Slash Price of Former Marital Mansion After 10 Months on the Market

Exes Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have slashed the price of their former marital Beverly Hills mansion by $8 million, hoping to finally entice buyers after 10 long months on the market.

Jennifer, 55, and Ben, 52, publicly listed the sprawling 38,000-square-foot estate for $68 million in July 2024, less than one month before the “Jenny From the Block” artist filed for divorce. As of Tuesday, May 5, real estate listings show the mansion’s price was considerably reduced to $59,950,000.

The former couple paid $60.8 million for the 12-bedroom and 24-bathroom property, which boasts a bar, sports lounge, fully-equipped gym and boxing ring, in May 2023. Additional lavish features on the home include a 12-car garage, a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a caretaker house and a two-bedroom guardhouse.

As the residence continues to linger on the market, sources exclusively told In Touch that the exes, who wed in 2022, are clashing over the way she’s allegedly handling the potential sale.

“Ben and Jennifer have been strongly urged by realtors to lower the listing price, because $68 million is unlikely to attract buyers in today’s market. Friends say Ben wants to follow their advice — J. Lo, however, refuses,” the insider told In Touch on Wednesday, May 7. “Meanwhile, they are hemorrhaging money by hanging on to the property. It’s turned into a money pit.”

Although Jennifer has since invested millions into designing the mansion, it’s costly to maintain — especially as it remains unsold. According to Realtor.com, the estimated monthly expenses for utilities, upkeep, property taxes and insurance exceed $283,000. The insider hinted that the Batman actor “didn’t even like the house and never wanted to buy it” in the first place.

“Ben and Jennifer don’t have a full-time staff on the property, just a skeleton crew,” noted the insider, “but that still adds up to another couple hundred thousand dollars a year.”

In addition, it’s only set to get more expensive, as homeowner’s insurance is estimated at around $500,000 a year right now and rates are expected to go up after the Los Angeles wildfires in January.

However, with a net worth of $400 million, Jen is in no rush to find the right buyer. “It is a stunning property, and pals say Jennifer doesn’t want to fire-sale it,” according to the source, noting the pair did reportedly receive a $64 million offer in 2024 that fell through. “But those in Ben’s corner believe he just wants to sell the house, for a loss if necessary, and move on. He is generous with the people he loves, but he can also be very frugal and hearing about the cost of upkeep makes him wince.”

Ben and Jennifer have a long history that began in the early 2000s, when they were first engaged to be married. However, they abruptly called off their wedding and went their separate ways. Nearly two decades later, the pair rekindled their romance and eventually tied the knot in 2022. Unfortunately, their romance was short-lived, as Jen filed for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their lavish Georgia nuptials.

“The house is the last link of their time together as a married couple. There are memories there, and she might not be ready to let go,” the source concluded.
