Ashley St. Clair claimed in February 2025 that she welcomed a child with Elon Musk. This was the Tesla CEO’s 13th child, but allegedly his first with Ashley. Now, the public is clamoring to know more about her.

Who Is Ashley St. Clair?

Ashley is an author and social media influencer who is best known for her children’s book, Elephants Are Not Birds. Even though Ashley has a large social media presence, she keeps the majority of her personal details private.

Ashley St. Clair Claimed Elon Musk Was the Father of Her Child

On February 14, 2025, Ashley released a statement via X and claimed that Elon was the father of her child.

“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause,” Ashley wrote. “I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment. For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting.”

Along with the photo of the message, Ashley added, “Alea Iacta Est,” which is Latin for “The die is cast.”

Ashley then followed up with a post that said she “[appreciated] the kind words,” but she [wished she] did not feel the need to make a statement.”

Ashley St. Clair Sued Elon Musk for Sole Legal Custody

Ashley filed a petition for custody of the child she claimed Elon had fathered on February 21, 2025. The little boy is referred to as “R.S.C.” in the documents. User Magazine was the first to report the news.

Ashley alleged that Elon was not present for R.S.C.’s birth in September 2024 and “has met him only three (3) times and has had no involvement in his care and upbringing,” per the outlet.

Along with filing for sole legal custody of the boy, Ashley also filed a paternity petition and claimed that she and Elon began a “romantic relationship in or about May 2023.” She also alleged that they had sexual intercourse in January 2024, which resulted in the conception of R.S.C.

Ashley claimed that Elon “acknowledged parentage of the child in various written correspondences,” including a conversation via text where she sent him a photo of the child shortly after his birth. She included a screenshot of the alleged text message conversation and claimed that the SpaceX founder responded by writing, “I look forward to seeing you and him this weekend.”

While Ashley claimed that Elon eventually met his son on September 21, 2024, he hasn’t seen him since November 30 that same year. However, just six days before Elon’s alleged last visit, Ashley claimed that he sent her a text reading, “I want to knock you up again.”

“Ashley St. Clair has filed paternity and custody petitions to protect the best interests of her child,” a representative for Ashley said in a statement to People on February 22, 2025. “She has made every effort to collaborate with Mr. Musk before taking this step. She has no further comment on the contents of the petitions, which speak for themselves.”

Elon Musk Ordered to Appear in Court

On February 28, 2025, People reported that Elon was ordered to appear in a New York City court due to Ashley’s lawsuit. The outlet stated that X owner was scheduled to appear on May 29, 2025, and that his legal team would be able to argue why Ashley should not be the sole custodian of the child. Jeffrey H. Pearlman, the New York Supreme Court judge overseeing the case, will also hear arguments regarding if Elon will be forced to pay child support.

However, the publication also reported that Elon has yet to accept the court filing.

“Despite requests, Mr. Musk has still not accepted service of the motion papers via his alleged attorneys, which is easy enough to do,” Karen B. Rosenthal, one of Ashley’s attorneys, said in a statement given to People. “As a result of avoiding personal service, he has prolonged the litigation and caused unnecessary distress. It should be noted that no attorney has opted in to the NYSCEF system claiming they represent Mr. Musk. We don’t have anyone we can properly speak with. It’s unnecessary gamesmanship when there’s an infant involved.”

Elon has not yet publicly addressed the situation.

Ashley St. Clair Accuses Elon Musk of Offering Her $15 Million to Keep Paternity a Secret

In an April 16, 2025, interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ashley claimed that she turned down $15 million that Elon offered in hopes of keeping the paternity of their child private. In addition to the one-time $15 million payment, he allegedly offered $100,000 a month until the child turned 21, in exchange for silence.

In the report, Ashley revealed for the first time that her son’s name is Romulus St. Clair. After giving birth to the baby boy in September 2024, she alleged she was approached by Elon’s “longtime fixer,” Jared Birchall, who urged her not to reveal her relationship with the Tesla founder and offered her financial support in return.

Ashley claimed she didn’t agree to the agreement as she didn’t want her son to feel illegitimate and would have to pay back the $15 million lump sum if she broke the terms of the contract.

How Many Kids Does Elon Musk Have?

Elon is father to thirteen children with four different women. He and his now-ex-wife, Justine Wilson, welcomed their first child in 2002. The little boy, Nevada Alexander, tragically passed away at just 10 months old as a result of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Over the next five years, Elon and Justine went on to expand their family. In 2004, they welcomed twins, Vivian and Griffin, and in 2006, triplets, Kai, Saxon and Damien, were born. All of the children were conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, two years later, Elon and Justine called it quits and divorced in 2008.

In 2018, Elon began dating Canadian singer and songwriter Grimes, and the former couple welcomed their first child in 2020. Grimes gave birth to son X Æ A-12, but she and Elon later changed his moniker to X Æ A-Xii. As for how to pronounce the unique name, the Starlink founder and Grimes had different ideas.

“It’s just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I,” Grimes wrote in the comments section on Instagram shortly after he was born.

Elon, on the other hand, said that the X is spoken “like the letter,” and “the ‘Æ’ is pronounced like ‘ash,'” during an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

In November 2021, Elon secretly welcomed twins, son Strider and daughter Azure, with another woman, Shivon Zilis. However, a year later, Grimes revealed that she and Elon added a little girl, Exa Dark Sideræl, to their family via surrogate in December 2021. Six months later, Grimes gave birth to her and Elon’s second son, Techno Mechanicus, in June 2022.

In June 2024, the owner of X confirmed he had expanded his brood once more with a 12th child, but no details about the baby have been released.
