The 2018 Golden Globes were held on Jan. 7, and there was one noticeable difference among the attendees: Almost everyone wore black. As a way to pledge their support to the Time's Up movement, men and women wore black gowns and tuxedos as a way to say "The time is up on sexual harassment and abuse." Many celebrities also donned a Time's Up pin — but, for the male winners that's where their allegiance to the cause ended.

Many viewers pointed out that zero male winners in the movie or TV categories mentioned the movement. In fact, people and organizations took to Twitter to call out the men for falling short when they had an opportunity to take a stand.

People are understandably upset that what could have been the time to take a stand about a major issue in their industry turned into a what? Fashion statement? That's unacceptable. One man who didn't drop the ball was host Seth Meyers who used his opening monologue to go after abusers including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Woody Allen as a way to comment on all the misogyny and abuse that has come to light in Hollywood during the past year.

Golden Globes winner Gary Oldman tip-toed around the issues in his best actor speech for Darkest Hour, saying, "I’m very proud of Darkest Hour, it illustrates that words and actions can change the world, and boy oh boy does it need some changing."

Thankfully, the women of the night did not let the cause down and took every chance they had to speak out about Time's Up. In the meantime, we'll be replaying Oprah Winfrey's powerful speeach in our minds: "For too long, Women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men, but their time is up!”
