This is so powerful.
Little Women: LA star Terra Jolé is the latest celeb to team up with PETA for a campaign focused on animal rights, In Touch can exclusively reveal.
In Touch has snagged the exclusive first look at the mother-of-two’s new campaign, which shares the story about how she risked her own life to rescue her pup Peggy, who she found on the side of the road.
“I found her on the highway, and she was dragging her back end, so I pulled over,” Terra says in a new video for PETA. “And I am the girl who has a leash and cat treats in the backseat of my car. I picked her up and took her to the nearest vet… [She’s] still one of the happiest dogs, and I wouldn’t give her up for the world.”
As PETA — which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals — explains, most dogs aren’t as lucky as Peggy, who lives with Terra, her husband Joe, kids Penny and Grayson, and two other fur-siblings; every year, more than 6 million dogs and cats end up in animal shelters in the United States, and sadly, many of them end up euthanized because there aren’t enough homes for them.
“There are so many cruel acts that go [on] behind the scenes that people don’t see, and I think if they saw that, they’d want to adopt from a shelter instead of buying from a pet store,” Terra muses. “So, for that, I would always adopt. Never, ever buy from a pet store — ever!”
