Teddi Mellencamp Says Dad Is Planning Her Burial Amid Stage 4 Cancer
Teddi Mellencamp revealed that her dad, John Mellencamp, has already started planning her burial amid her battle with stage IV cancer.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 43, got candid about some conversations she’s had with John, 73, and said that he called her multiple times in a row to discuss where she would be laid to rest.
“Yesterday my dad calls 11 times in a row. Finally, I answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath. Let me live a little.’” Teddi told her cohost, Tamra Judge, in the Tuesday, April 8, episode of their “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast. “He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum.’”
Teddi, who shares three kids with ex Edwin Arroyave, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5, wanted to know if there would be space in the mausoleum for them as well.
“He’s like, ‘Well, there’s going to be the top five and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and then that’s where everyone’s going to get buried,’” Teddi continued. “He goes, ‘You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there.’”
The reality star revealed in February that doctors had found several tumors in her brain and she was preparing to have surgery.
“For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches. Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months,” Teddi wrote in an Instagram statement. “Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today – The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.”

On February 13, Edwin, 47, let fans know that Teddi’s surgery had “gone well,” but added that he had “never” seen her in “so much pain.”
She spent more than two weeks in the hospital as doctors treated the brain tumors. However, just two days after she came home, Teddi returned to the hospital for additional brain scans and doctors found five more tumors.
“I have 3 more tumors in my brain and 2 tumors on my lungs. These are all a direct result of my melanoma,” Teddi wrote in a March 6 Instagram Story. The doctors are hopeful that these additional mutations will be removed via immunotherapy. That begins Tuesday at 11 a.m. I am feeling positive and excited — that I will beat these tumors.”
On April 2, the accountability coach announced that she had stage IV cancer and the cancer had metastasized to her lungs and brain, where four additional tumors were found.
“There are some days [where] I think you’re allowed to say, ‘I don’t feel confident right now, I feel very uncomfortable and I want to wear a wig,’” Teddi said in an interview with Us Weekly published that same day. “And there are some days that I’m like, “It is what it is.” Some days, I’m really sad and really scared, and some days, I’m like, “I got this; I’m not worried.”
The following day, Teddi was able to ring the bell to mark the end of her radiation therapy and told fans that she had “five more rounds of immunotherapy to go.”
