She’s the one spilling the tea, but Donald Trump‘s lawyer Michael Cohen is the one getting sued for defamation! Stormy Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford) recounted the shocking details of her explosive 5,000-word interview with In Touch on 60 Minutes last night, and Cohen’s response to it has her fuming. “Just because something isn’t true doesn’t mean that it can’t cause you harm or damage,” said Cohen in his letter following the interview. Stormy took that as Grade A shade.
“It was reasonably understood Mr. Cohen meant to convey that Ms. Clifford is a liar,” said her lawyer Michael Avenetti in an amendment to their original lawsuit against him, as reported by TMZ. “Someone who should not be trusted, and that her claims about her relationship with Mr. Trump are ‘something [that] isn’t true.'” Watch the video below for Stormy’s best clapbacks.
The attorney claims that Cohen’s statement lead to physical threats of violence to Stormy’s person and life, as well as hatred, contempt, ridicule, and shame. Now she’s looking to get actual and punitive damages for the pain he’s incurred.
Meanwhile, they’re also trying to use the new complaint to keep her lawsuit against Trump alive. She’s been trying to get their non-disclosure agreement nixed on the grounds that it wasn’t legal, while Cohen and Trump are aiming to deal with all of that in arbitration, where they can handle it privately and out of the public eye. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out, but one thing’s for sure: Stormy ain’t going anywhere.
