He remains in custody. Simone Biles‘ brother, Tevin Biles-Thomas, faced the judge during his scheduled appearance at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, September 13. While dressed in his orange jumpsuit, Tevin reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges made against him. The 24-year-old has been accused of killing three people in a shooting which took place last New Year’s Eve.

“I ask the court to accept a plea of not guilty on Mr. Biles’ behalf until a discovery is met and exchanged,” his lawyer told the judge, according to Radar Online. The judge also ordered that he has “no contact” with any of the victims who survived the incident. Tevin is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

As we previously reported, the active military member was arrested in Fort Stewart, Georgia, on August 29, 2019 for his alleged involvement in the triple murder of Devaughn Gibson, 23, DelVaunte’ Johnson, 19, and Toshon Banks, 21.

It’s speculated that an altercation took place at 11:30 p.m. on December 31, 2018, when an uninvited group arrived to a NYE party at an Airbnb in Cleveland. “The altercation led to gunfire and multiple victims were shot, three of which were fatal. Several party attendees fled the scene,” a spokesman for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office told In Touch.

“The relentless persistence of Cleveland Police Homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor O’Malley added. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”

After news broke about his arrest, Simone, 22, later released a statement revealing she was still having a hard time “processing” everything. “My heart aches for everyone involved, especially for the victims and their families,” she wrote.

“There is nothing that I can say that will heal anyone’s pain, but I do want to express my sincere condolences to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. I ask everyone to please respect my family’s privacy as we deal with our pain. XO.”
