In a Weird Way, Being a Duggar Is Kind of Like Being a Royal

You're probably thinking that "royals" and "Duggars" don't even belong in the same sentence, let alone the same headline. But hear us out for a minute. Although the famous dynasties are vastly different on the outside, they're actually more alike than you think. Both families are in situations that are less than ideal. Sure, the royals get to live the high life, get to eat the best foods, and are pampered wherever they go, but they're also under extreme scrutiny and control — sort of like the Duggars. Even Prince Harry has admitted that, despite all the extravagance and luxury that comes with being a royal, most of them kind of hate it. "We are involved in modernizing the British monarchy," he told Newsweek in 2017. "We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people…. Is there any one of the royal family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time." The 33-year-old prince has also revealed that he had considered leaving the royal family entirely. "There was a time I felt I wanted out," he revealed that same year. "But then I decided to stay in [the family] and work out a role for myself." Although the Queen convinced him to stay, according to the soon-to-be-married royal, if it was up to him, he would prefer to work as a "safari guide in Africa." Like the Duggars, the royals are limited in what they can do with their lives. Being raised in either family sounds like it'd be awfully stifling — not to mention soul-crushing.
