Dr. Dre admitted calling his ex-therapist, who worked on his divorce, a “bitch” but denied it was a homophobic slur, In Touch can exclusively report.

In Touch obtained the declaration submitted by Dr. Dre (real name: Andre Young) as part of Dr. Charles J. Sophy’s $10 million lawsuit accusing the mogul of civil harassment. Back in October 2024, Charles sued Dre, 59, claiming he had harassed him for over a year. The psychiatrist said he was hired to mediate Dre’s divorce from his then-wife, Nicole Young, in 2018.

Charles claimed he worked “fairly” to resolve the divorce.

Charles claimed that, “rather than treating the mediation process as an opportunity for healing, [Dre] decided to take his frustrations about the mediation out on [him] — frustrations that manifested themselves in the form of a nearly year-long sustained campaign of late-night texts, threats of intimidation and violence and homophobic rhetoric (e.g. ‘You’re a bitch,’ ‘Cat got your tongue?’).”

Dre and Nicole reached a divorce settlement in 2021. Despite the divorce being over, Charles claimed Dre sent him harassing and threatening messages.

One alleged text dated April 25, 2023, from Dre to Charles read, “Hey doc, of whatever the f–k you’re pretending to be. Just know this. I’m not going anywhere until you explain to me why you tried to talk [redacted] into saying negative things about me to the media. You’re a piece of s–t!!!” Charles claimed Dre threatened to ruin him after falsely accusing him of encouraging a third party to ruin Dre’s reputation.

His suit read, “Given [Dre’s] status as a powerful and influential Hollywood figure and his public and well-documented history of violence and abuse, [Charles] reasonably believed that [Dre] was capable of carrying out his threats and causing physical harm, violence, or death to [Charles].” Charles said he hired private security due to Dre’s alleged threats.

His lawsuit demanded $10 million in damages along with punitive damages.

As In Touch first reported, Dre denied all allegations of wrongdoing. Dre’s lawyer argued that the lawsuit should be dismissed due to Charles not exercising “ordinary care, caution, and prudence in connection with the transactions and events that are alleged in the complaint.”

He added, “[Charles’] lack of care, caution, and prudence were independent and unrelated to any of [Dre’s] actions.”

In his newly filed declaration, Dre scoffed at Charles’ claims. He said he had confidential sessions with the doctor, along with his ex-wife and their children. He said, “I understood that my statements in these sessions were entirely confidential.”

Dre said, “In 2023, I discovered that [Charles] had attempted to poison my relationship with my son, including by urging him to disclose my financial records to the media as part of his attempts to pressure me into settling my divorce on unfair terms.”

The mogul said he was “extremely disturbed” by this discovery and called his lawyer to talk about his available legal remedies, “which included a medical board review and litigation.” Dre admitted to sending text messages to Charles. He explained, “I sent all of these text messages to [Charles] in the context of my discovery of his malpractice, my unsuccessful attempts to have [Charles] explain to me why he had undertaken these inappropriate actions, and my warnings him that I intended to pursue my legal options, which included a medical board review and/or litigation.”

The entertainer said that he did not receive a satisfactory response from Charles about his previous messages, and decided to text him again.

He told him he would be “moving forward” if he did not apologize, which “meant moving forward with one of more of the legal remedies that were and had been under actual and serious consideration.”

Dre said he filed a complaint with the Medical Board in May 2023.

He told the court, “Just before, in August, I texted [Charles] again regarding the matter, having not contacted him directly via text since April. I told him that I had not forgotten about him, which simply meant that I was still pursuing my legal remedies for the misconduct that I learned about earlier in the year, even if he had not heard from me in the meantime.”

Dre denied he was sending threats to Charles. “I was frustrated by what I had learned about [Charles], and was serious in my texts when I told him that he would have to defend his conduct—either to the medical board, the court, or both. None of the language I used in the texts was ever intended to threaten violence against [Charles] or his property, or to discriminate against [Charles] on account of his alleged sexual orientation. And I did not threaten any violence or discriminate.”

Dre denied his language was homophobic.

He told the judge, “I used strong language, at times rough, because I was deeply upset about his unethical conduct and was serious about my warnings to him that I would pursue my legal remedies. To state it bluntly, I called him a ‘bitch’ because of his misconduct that I learned about in 2023, not because of his alleged sexual orientation. [Charles’] allegation that I used ‘homophobic slurs’ or ‘homophobic rhetoric’ is unequivocally false.”

A judge has yet to rule. As In Touch previously reported, last year, a judge denied Charles’ request for a temporary restraining order against Dre.
