Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Split After Less Than 1 Year of Marriage

Say it ain’t so! When Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth secretly tied the knot in 2018, we thought they’d be together forever. But less than a year later, the couple has called it quits, In Touch can confirm.

A rep for Miley confirmed the split in a statement to People. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Fans started to get suspicious of a breakup when Miley started going back to her super sexy antics, posting lots of bikini photos, and twerking for her Instagram fans. Earlier in the year, Miley and Liam were constantly posting pics of one another and commenting on each other’s pics, but leading up to the split they were radio silent about their S.O. on social media for months. The last time Liam posted about Miley was on June 2, when he posted a photo with his bride and the caption, “Abs like a ninja turtle 🐢.”

In early August, the couple spent some time apart as Liam joined his brother Chris Hemsworth in their native Australia for some family time, and Miley jetted off to Italy with recently-single pal Kaitlynn Carter, following her split from Brody Jenner. That’s when fans really began to speculate. “Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth broke up. Prove me wrong,” said one fan on Twitter. Another felt the same, writing, “I need a twitter private investigator to find out if Miley and Liam are still together … my heart needs an answer.” Sadly, we now have that answer, but probably not the one fans were hoping for.

Miley and Liam first began dating after starring together in the romance film The Last Song in 2008. In 2012, the pair got engaged, but sadly split in 2013 and called off the wedding. Three years later in 2016, Miley and Liam got back together and in 2018 they tied the knot in a secret ceremony around Christmas. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it a full year after their nuptials. Our hearts go out to the pop maven and Aussie actor in this difficult time.
