Meghan Markle has shelved plans for her memoir — but a source reveals it’s more of a pause than a cancellation.
“She’s being strategic,” the source tells In Touch. “Meghan knows a tell-all still has huge value, but in order to get the sort of payday she’d like, she would have to cover her time within the royal family and what went wrong. Right now, that’s a narrative she’s trying to move away from.”
After the Suits alum, 44, and husband Prince Harry dramatically decamped from England in 2020, they threw repeated barbs at Prince William, King Charles III, PrincessKate and other members of the monarchy in various interviews and shows.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, took further swipes in his own 2023 book, Spare.
But their criticisms have since appeared to die down, with the As Ever founder instead seeming to focus on building her own brand — despite some speed bumps.
In March, Netflix announced to Variety that it was pulling out as an investor in Markle’s lifestyle company.
“As Ever is now ready to stand on its own,” a spokesperson for the With Love, Meghan star insisted in response to the news. “We have an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more.”

As In Touchpreviously reported, the Sussexes recently set out on a “make or break” trip to Australia, where they hoped to win over new fans.
So, at present, a royal tell-all is something Markle is “keeping in her back pocket,” says the source.
“The sad truth is, the thing the majority of people are still interested in is all the drama with Harry’s family — that’s what’s going to sell,” the source shares. “But she’s decided the best thing to do is put it to the side, for now.”
