Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are determined to make a good impression on their four-day trip to Australia, a source tells In Touch.
The Sussexes touched down in Melbourne on Tuesday, April 14, per People, and are expected to attend events in Sydney and Canberra too.
“It’s no secret these sorts of tours, where they play themselves up like they’re still working royals, infuriate Prince William, so they’re really poking the bear with this,” admits the source. “People are already whispering that there will be consequences from his end, so the stakes are very high.”
So is the money to be made down under.
As In Touch previously reported, Exit Wealth Advisors managing partner Ted Jenkin recently told Page Six that Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, could bring in $2 million from speaking engagements and appearances, $3.5 million from sponsorships and brand deals and $4.5 million from media and content value.
“If it doesn’t pay off the way Meghan’s insisting it will, not only will they be left humiliated,” notes the source, “they’ll have made things even worse with Harry’s family for nothing.”

That’s not the only reason why the duke and duchess are under an “intense” amount of “pressure,” says In Touch’s source. “Australia is a core Commonwealth territory. If it doesn’t land, it will be an undeniable defeat.”
One that would come on the heels of Netflix ending its partnership with Meghan’s As Ever brand.
“They’re hoping [to] win people over, but there’s no guarantee it will work,” admits the source. “Harry’s trying to keep it light and has joked it’s their ‘cup final,’ but there’s a real feeling that this is make or break.”
